"Viva la Pappa col Pomodoro!”…i can still hear my Nonno singing this old Italian song whilst picking tomatoes when I visited Italy during my summers as a kid.
Fun fact: although pomodori, tomatoes, arrived in Italy around the year 500, they were only used for cooking and eating 200 years later, because the bright red color of the new and mysterious fruit was considered sketchy... Aka, Italians thought tomatoes were poisonous!
Pappa al pomodoro might seem easy, but you need to put some real Amore into this dish for the freshness and aromas to come through and rock your world!
