Veal with tuna? Yes please!
Veal with tuna, please! Yes, believe it or not that is exactly what ‘vitello tonnato’, a dish typical to the Torino area, is.
How this magical, unexpected and curious pairing happened is a funny story itself: it is in fact said that in old times tuna was considered a tasteless and bland fish. Cooks would put it under salt for days and slice it, realising it had the exact same taste as lamb meat under salt.
Next thing you know, lamb was sliced and tuna was blended with anchovies and served on top, creating on of the most iconic dishes Piemonte has to offer.
