Description

Elegant is the adjective that best describes the character of Rafaèl, an unmistakable wine closely linked to the history of the Tommasi Family.

It is the first cultivated vineyard of the Tommasi family, and where the founder Giacomo Tommasi built his house in Pedemonte, in the municipality of San Pietro in Cariano, in the Valpolicella Classica Storica.

The Rafaèl vineyard is located on a hill near the Masua, historical cru of Valpolicella Classica, at an altitude of about 200 m above sea level.

It covers 6 hectares, all cultivated with Veronese (3,500 vines per hectare) on the typical dry terraces called 'marogne'.

The vines planted are Corvina, Rondinella and Molinara and have an average age of about 30/35 years. The soil is calcareous, mixed, with a good presence of clay.

This involves the production of aromas that lead much towards black spice and black fruit such as blueberry and blackberry. The resulting wines are particularly sapid. The soil is suitable for the production of wines that need less aging time and are more characterized by their readiness to drink and good acidity.
