You'll certainly want to be able to make this old-school Italian treat for everyone in your family. Representing one of the classic gelato tryptic flavors (cream, chocolate, and pistachio or hazlenut), this custom recipe could very well become your new favorite flavor.
Perfect on its own, with strawberries on the side, or even at the bottom of a wonderous coffee "affogato" as poeple say in Italy, knowing how to expertly whip up a cream gelato in under 1 hour, will make this dessert an unmistakable signature dish for you to master. And when you do, expect a long line of friends and family waiting to taste your new, lip-smacking Italian recipe!
Create the gelato
Beat egg yolks with granulated sugar using electric mixer until thickened and well-blended. Heat the heavy cream with the milk in medium sauce pan over medium-low heat until hot but not boiling. Remove from heat, and when cooled, slowly fold into egg mixture. Pour mixture back into small saucepan, and heat over very low heat for a few minutes. Remove from heat. Allow blend to cool off, and pour into ice cream maker, where it should churn for between 30-40 minutes or until consistency is correct. Once the correct consistency is reached, place into freezer.
Serve or store gelato
Once the correct consistency is reached in the ice cream maker during churning, you can either store in freezer until ready to enjoy, or serve promptly.
