Piave Cheeseboard with Home-Made Jams

Very few things scream 'Aperitivo!' like a lovely colorful board packed with all your favorite cheeses and fresh fruit!

Add a glass of your choice (a lovely glass of Italian bubbly would be ours), and let the kicking-back begin!

Although grapes, pears, and apples are without a doubt the best fruits to pair with cheese, don't be shy and chop up any  of your favorites.

Have fun, and remember that the star of this cheeseboard will definitely be your home-made sweet and spicy jams!

Which wine to match Piave Cheeseboard with Home-Made Jams?

With this cheese board, whether stand-alone, as an aperitif or at the end of a meal, we recommend a sparkling red wine, such as Bonarda, with its fruity hints of cherry and almond, to cleanse the mouth from the cheese and enhance its flavour. For those who want to dare, the combination with a semi-dry Marsala or other dessert wines that are not particularly sweet is definitely intriguing.

  • Piave Dop Fresco - Cheese 100 grams
  • Piave DOP Vecchio Selezione Oro Cheese 100 grams
  • Piave Dop Fresco Cheese 100 grams
  • Piave Dop Vecchio Cheese 100 grams
  • Red onion 1 kg
  • Brown sugar 300 grams
  • Apple Cider vinegar 150 ml2
  • Bell pepper 300 grams
  • Chilli Pepper 700 grams
  • Sugar (Granulated) 400 grams
  • White wine 0.5 cup
  • Honey as needed
  • Salt 1 tea spoon
  • Pear as needed
  • Grapes as needed
  • Walnuts as needed

Preparation

for 4 servings

Prepare Sweet Onion Jam

Peel, wash and finely chop the onions, put them in a pot. Add the brown sugar, salt and vinegar.
Mix everything together and let it cook for 45 minutes.
Let cool.

Step

Prepare the Chilli Jam

Wash the chillis, clean them and remove most of the seeds, cut them into small pieces. 
Clean the red bell pepper in the same way and cut it. Put in a pot adding the sugar and the wine.
Boil until it becomes creamy, it should not be too dry.

Complete the dish

Cut the cheese into small pieces, arrange them on the plate starting with the freshest.
Garnish with the sliced fresh fruit, jams and honey in small bowls.

Tips on storing the jams

Put the jams in jars close the lids, put the jars in a pot and cover them with water.
Bring to a boil, boil 30 minutes and then let cool in the water.
The lid at the end of cooling (squeezing it in the center) should no longer be elastic and should not make any noise. Store in a cool place.
