Mamablip’s Wine School's Wine Styles - Sweet Wines

They're almost becoming extinct, but sweet wines are incredibly interesting and absolutely delicious!

Sweet wines are most definitely a force to be reckoned with, although unfortunately they are consumed (and sold) less and less.

Today Filippo Bartolotta, Mamablip’s expert on all things wine, teaches us about this lesser know wine-style, and its very interesting background!

How is sweet wine made? One would think that just by adding sugar to wine, as you do with certain liquors, would be the right solution.

Well, as Filippo will explain, this is absolutely forbidden by law…. So what does it take to make a sweet wine, like the incredible Moscato d’Asti, one of our favorites?

Sweet wines can be made in many different ways, and the three what we explore today take place in the vineyard, in the cellar, or with the help of a little grape fungus (yes, you read that right!). Watch the video and follow Filippo in this sweet yet sugar-less journey!
