Tenuta Greppone Mazzi - Brunello of Montalcino DOCG 2015 - Brunello Wine Tasting Episode 11 of 31

Tasting of the Brunello di Montalcino 2015 from Tenuta Greppone Mazzi in Montalcino

The Greppone Mazzi winery, nestled into a most suggestive eastern hillside slope of Montalcino, bears the logo of an ancient bronze star unearthed in the villa’s ancient cellar.  Imagine the excitement the winery’s founders must have been to unearth such a perfect relic for their Brunello di Montalcino label!

This wondrous wine estate is housed in an original 16th century villa, and enjoys a solid reputation as part of the Ruffino wine world.  Expressing the classic Sangiovese grapes required by law to be  wholly present in all Brunello wines, the Greppone Mazzi wine is a complete reflection of the territory’s unique growing environment and soil values.

When tasting the Greppone Mazzi Brunello 2015 option, the minerality and soil characteristics come back through the wine, and make the Greppone 2015 selection an excellent example of the Montalcino terroir.

Filippo Bartolotta, our grapetrotter, has tasted this wine, and shares his tasting notes with us, and we’re delighted to learn more about this unique Brunello di Montalcino selection.  With a limited number of Montalcino wineries to enjoy, the Greppone Mazzi winery stands out as a producer crafting fine wines to be enjoyed together.

Let’s take a closer look at the Greppone Mazzi Brunello di Montalcino 2015 selection, and see how we can enjoy and savor this traditionally excellent Brunello wine.
