Break the chocolate up into small pieces and place into medium mixing bowl. Using either microwave or double boiler, melt chocolate pieces carefully (chocolate must not burn) and set aside to cool.
In another metal mixing bowl, beat eggs and granulated sugar together with electric mixer for at least 5 minutes.
In another cold metal mixing bowl, beat whipping cream until stiff peaks forms.
When cooled, add melted chocolate to egg blend, set aside. Stir in dash of vanilla gently.
In small mixing bowl, blend flour, baking powder, and salt.
Combine dry ingredients with chocolate and egg blend, alternating with the whipped cream. Blend until batter is well-blended and uniform in appearance.

Preheat oven to 350. Prepare cake tins by greasing and flouring well.
Pour cake batter into prepared tins, and bake for 40-50 minutes, until cake is cooked through and toothpick inserted into center comes out clean and free of crumbs.
Remove cake from oven, place tin directly onto wire cooling rack until cool enough to handle. Remove cake from tin, replace back onto cooling rack and allow to cool completely.
