Glera - Masottina Extra Dry: A Review Of The Glera Masottina

The Glera Masottina Extra Dry is an Italian wine that offers a dry, full bodied taste. It has the potential to be a great drinking wine with many different food pairings. I found it to be very enjoyable and would recommend it to anyone who enjoys dry red wines or who wants to try something new.

Calmaggiore Extra Dry-Glera Masottina

  • Prosecco DOC Treviso
  • Grape variety: 100% Glera

Why is it called Calmaggiore?

Via Calmaggiore is the main street in the historic centre of Treviso. It links two of the city's symbolic sites: Piazza del Duomo and Piazza dei Signori.

For Masottina, Calmaggiore is also the name of the Prosecco DOC Treviso collection, a way of paying homage to the historic province where Prosecco wine was born.

Why drink Calmaggiore Extra Dry?

  • The dosage of sugar enhances its aromatic complexity
  • Soft and subtle in its elegant refinement,
  • The very fine and persistent perlage is synonymous with great gentleness and grace, underlining a persuasive palate in great harmony with a fruity and floral nose.

What are the organoleptic characteristics?

A delicate straw yellow color, embroidered with a fine and persistent perlage.

Intense but refined.  On the nose, intense varietal notes stand out, including apple, apricot and white melon; these are joined by fresh, citrusy notes of citron, lemon and pink grapefruit. In the mouth, the fresh fruit scents are exalted and well balanced with the olfactory notes. The finish is soft, harmonious and elegant.
