Heart and Soul of Sicilian wines: The Donnafugata Story

Let's discover one of Sicily's most iconic wine estates: Donnafugata with its beautiful bottles and a romantic family history.

One of Sicily’s most significant wineries is the eternal, soulful Donnafugata wine estate.  With a classic Sicilian sense of history and timeless, the Donnafugata winery is inspired by and inspires history itself.

Looking back to the literary masterpiece, The Leopard, a philosophy strongly adhered to by the Rallo family is that in order for things to remain the same, things must change.  To ensure that the Donnafugata wine estate may continue producing classic Italian wines with their unique Sicilian accents, the winery processes and investments must be timely and reflect the sensibilities of today’s market.  One of the most exciting Sicilian winemaking families around, the Rallo family represents authentic Sicilian wine-making at its finest and most creative.

With an ever-present eye towards Italian art and history, all Donnafugata wine labels are created in collaboration with notable Padovan artist, Stefano Vitale.  Incorporating traditional Sicilian colors and images, each Donnafugata wine bottle is a labor of family love, art, history, and innovative Sicilian wine.

The Rallo family, today represented by José and Antonio, the fourth generation of the Rallo family making fine Sicilian wines, with their feet firmly rooted in the creation of Sicilian wine production, are also able to project a vibrant role in Arts, Music, and wine management throughout the magical island of Sicily.

Today Sicily marks a top destination for those in search of fine Italian wine, exciting art and memorable cultural experiences.  This is in great part thanks to the energy and dedication the Rallo family and the Donnafugata wine estate have devoted to bringing Sicily to the absolute forefront of the wondrous Italian landscape.
